■ First Lt. Travis Lee Cord was awarded his pilot's wings in a graduation ceremony July 1 in Columbus, Miss. Cord will be stationed at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois and will be flying a KC-135 Air Refueler. He began his service in the Air Force ROTC program at Scott County High School. As a senior at Scott County he received the highest scholarship awarded by the Air Force to attend the University of Kentucky, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in business. Cord began taking flying lessons as a teenager and received his private pilot's license in 2006. Cord is the son of Everitt Cord and stepson of Ginger Cord, both of Lexington, and the son of Frances Cord of Burgin.

■ Army National Guard Pvt. Caleb A. Hall has graduated from Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga. He is the son of Michael Hall of Nicholasville.

■ Army National Guard Pvt. Jacob B. Routt has graduated from the Basic Field Artillery Cannon Crewmember Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla.

He is the son of Mathew S. Routt and Julie L. McKnight of Versailles and is a 2009 graduate of Woodford County High School.
