YMCA's Christmas Ball will be free this year

The Frankfort YMCA is hosting the fifth annual YMCA Christmas Ball on Dec. 18. The Christmas Ball is designated for Special Olympic athletes and individuals with special needs in the Central Kentucky area.

"Last year met and exceeded all expectations," said Brent Wallace, Family Services/Marketing Director of the Frankfort YMCA. "We have been very fortunate to gain the support of several local sponsors, such as Community Choices Unlimited, Stewart Home School, McAllen Solutions and many others. This year we are able to waive the $10 entry fee."

This is the first time the event will be free to everyone. Last year, the ball drew more than 350 participants from throughout Central Kentucky.

"The main focus of this event is to provide an opportunity for the participants to engage themselves in socialization through entertainment and fellowship," Wallace said.

The event will be from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Frankfort Convention Center and will feature music, dancing, refreshments, photography, door prizes, games and crafts. Everyone is encouraged to dress in holiday attire. Jeans are not permitted.

Registration is available online at Frankfortymca.org, or you may complete a registration form and mail it to the Downtown Frankfort YMCA, 402 West Broadway, Frankfort, Ky. 40601, or turn it in at the event. Registration forms may be downloaded from the YMCA Web site or picked up from any Frankfort YMCA location. For information, contact Wallace at 502-227-9637, Ext.104, or by e-mail at brent@frankfortymca.org.
