Dozens of children visited the Midway branch of the Woodford County Public Library on March 3 to celebrate Dr. Seuss's 107th birthday with cake, crafts, games and a reading of Dr. Seuss's Gerald McBoing Boing by Cindy Alvarado-Yeary.
The party was a local highlight of national Read Across America week, a project of the National Education Association. National Read Across America day began in 1998 and is celebrated on March 2, Dr. Seuss's actual birthday. The NEA's goal is to have every child reading with an adult on March 2.
