New historical marker unveiled

The Kentucky Historical Society dedicated a historical marker for the old Midway Colored School on June 25. Built in 1872 on East Walnut Street, the building also has housed a church, a laundromat, a beauty shop and a lodge. The school operated for 43 years, closing in 1954.

Fair's royalty announced

Woodford County youth of all ages were recognized during the Woodford County Fair's annual pageants. Miss Woodford County Fair 2011 is Katie Miller, first runner-up is Kirsten Lee, second runner-up is Mary Beth Carney, Miss Photogenic is Kamille Cole, and Miss Congeniality is Lizzie Rose.

Miss Teen Woodford County Fair is Sarah Souers, first runner-up is Savannah Eden, and second runner-up is Sarah Webb.

The 2011 Miss Preteen Woodford County Fair is Christina Catherine Jackson, first runner-up is Kennedy Brooke Eden, second runner-up is Alexia Paige Owens, third runner-up is Andrea Bailey Ingram and fourth runner-up is Ashleigh Ann Howard.

The 2011 Little Miss Woodford County Fair is Addison Mackenzie Kerr. Allie Ingram is the runner-up. The 2011 Little Mister Woodford County Fair is Tye Stone Richardson, and Levi Williams is the runner-up.
