Lexington U-13 Premier soccer club wins tournament in Tennessee

The U-13 Premier 99 soccer team from the Lexington Football Club won the recent Tennessee Futbol Club Battleground Tournament of Champions, beating teams from Kentucky and Tennessee.

The players are 12 and 13 years old. This is the Lexington Football Club's "premier" team at U-13, drawing players from Lexington, Richmond, Paris and Nicholasville. The team came in second in the same tournament last year. This year, the team beat TNFC (Tennessee Futbol Club) in the finals to win the tournament.

Head Coach Brian Raney is the local owner of Apax Software on Main Street. Coach Dustin Downey plays semi-professional soccer for the River City Rovers in Louisville.

According to, the Premier 99 team is ranked No. 1 in Kentucky. For competitive games, it plays in an Ohio league.
