Southside students raise money in Collin's memory

Students at Southside Elementary School in Versailles raised $1,887.15 during the recent Coins for Collin campaign, in honor of Collin Truitt Poynter, who died of neuroblastoma in 2004. The money raised will allow three Kentucky children with cancer to spend a week at Indian Summer Camp in Nicholasville or Camp Quality in Bloomfield next summer.

Elementary students, schools honored

The Woodford County Public Schools' Board of Education honored 370 students on Nov. 28 for earning distinguished scores in all tested areas of last spring's state assessment tests. Huntertown, Simmons, and Southside elementary schools also received Century Club Award banners for an overall proficient score of 100 or more.
