Lex-Care: Teacher needs help with rent

A case received at Lex-Care this week came from Sabina Massey, a social worker at Bryan Station High School.

Her client is a single mother of two who needs $750 to pay her first month's rent. She is employed full time as a teacher in the Fayette County School system.

Recently, the mother discovered bed bugs in the apartment that she and her daughters had lived in for years. She and the landlord shared the cost of exterminating them. During that time, she incurred the cost of the family staying in a motel.

A new apartment has been found, and enough money is available to pay the deposit, but money is needed to pay the first month's rent. Once they are settled, the family will be able to manage.
