Midway College interim president Robert L. Vogel has appointed Marlene M. Helm as vice president for academic affairs, the top academic post at the college. Helm has been with Midway College since 2011, when she joined the college as the Teacher Education Graduate Program chair to oversee the development and launch of the college's first master's level program in education. Helm received master and doctorate degrees in education from the University of Kentucky. She received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Kentucky State University.
Before coming to Midway, Helm served as the commissioner of social services for the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government.
