The annual spring flower sale at the Jessamine Career and Technology Center greenhouse is open 2:30-5:30 p.m. through Friday and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday.
Bedding plants available include petunias, begonias, coleus, impatiens, celosia, marigolds and vinca vine. Hanging baskets include begonias, geraniums and wave petunias. Boston ferns and geraniums are also available. The JCTC greenhouse is located at 881 Wilmore Road.
Artists of all ages welcome at Paint Out
Artists of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to make art at the Creative Paint Out from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday on the Wilmore Downtown Green. Bring your own supplies or use what is provided. Diabetes self-management training
The Jessamine County Health Department will sponsor diabetes self-management training from 1 to 3 p.m., Thursday at 215 East Maple Street, Nicholasville. The training will be repeated at the same time on May 16. The class will explain diabetes medicines, high and low blood sugars, monitoring, foot care, long-term complications, healthy eating habits and more. 5K run/walk benefits Chrysalis House
The R. J. Corman 5K Run/Walk to benefit Chrysalis House will be May 18 at the R. J. Corman Railroad Group, 101 R. J. Corman Drive, Nicholasville. Walkers and runners may register online at Cormanracesforchrysalis.com or call (859) 977-2502.
Online registration will be available until midnight May 16. Advance registration is $20. Race day registration is $25. Packet pickup will be 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. May 15 and noon-4 p.m. May 16 at the Chrysalis Community Center, 1589 Hill Rise Drive.
Race day registration opens at 7:30 a.m.; events begin at 9 a.m.
The top three male and female finishers will receive cash prizes of $750 (first place), $250 (second place) and $100 (third place). There will be random drawings for five prizes of $200 each. All participants will receive a T-shirt.
Post-race food will be prepared by My Old Kentucky Dinner Train's Executive Chef, Gil Logan and will include burgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, wraps, fruit and homemade ice cream.
