Lexington Humane Society Beastie Ball. 5:30 p.m. Nov. 22. Griffin Gate Marriott Resort & Spa. An evening of food, drinks, live and silent auctions, dancing and music by Joey and the Cruisers. Attire: Black tie and Mad Hats optional.

■ Puppy Class. Six-week session. Starts 6:30 p.m. Nov. 11. For puppies aged 12 weeks to 7 months. Stresses socialization, beginning loose leash walking, sit down, stay, "leave it," attention, coming when called and impulse control. Puppy issues such as housebreaking, nipping, etc. are also addressed. Attendance at this class can lead to your puppy earning the AKC Star Puppy Award. $135.

■ Basic Manners. Six-week session. Starts 6:30 p.m. Nov. 13. Basic manners: For dogs aged 6 months and up. Stresses foundation skills such as basic self control, leash walking, coming when called, sit, down, "leave it," and stay. Teaches your dog to pay attention in the midst of distractions. Some work may be done off leash. $135. Can be repeated with the same dog for $70.
