The Jessamine County Tree Lighting ceremony begins at 6 p.m. Friday at the courthouse. Hear holiday music from local schools and the Jessamine Jazz Ensemble, and dramatic readings of the Christmas story and other traditional holiday works. The Circle of Giving silent auction features fanciful wreaths while supporting needy families. Wilmore holds Old Fashioned Musical Christmas
From the 7 a.m. Lions Club Pancake Breakfast at the Providence School to the 8 p.m. Choral Grand Finale at Wilmore United Methodist Church, Wilmore's Old Fashioned Musical Christmas on Saturday is an entire day of activities for all ages. Dozens of Wilmore businesses and churches will open their doors with holiday hospitality, shopping and seasonal music. The Jessamine County Health Department is sponsoring free Cooper-Clayton Method tobacco cessation classes starting at 6 p.m. Jan. 5 at 210 East Walnut Street, Nicholasville. Cooper-Clayton is a science-based program that uses proven methods including education, skills training and social support. Nicotine patches will be provided for the first 25 registrants. Registration open for YMCA Youth League Basketball
Register continues through Dec. 20 for Jessamine County YMCA Youth League Basketball for ages 3 through 12. Practices begin the week of Jan. 5 at the Asbury Seminary Gym in Wilmore. Games will be on Saturdays starting Jan. 17 at the Beaumont Centre YMCA. The fee is $65. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.
