The St. "Nich" Christmas Fest on Saturday is a day of shopping, food, music and food in Nicholasville topped by a Christmas parade on Main Street at 5 p.m. Highlights include a gingerbread house contest, an Ugly Sweater 5K, a best-dressed University of Kentucky fan contest, and Polar Express story time. Fight hunger at Wednesday's Empty Bowls Luncheon
Ceramic artists from The Providence School in Nicholasville have fired and glazed dozens of soup bowls in preparation for the eighth annual Empty Bowls Luncheon, which will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Providence School Cafeteria, 210 South Lexington Avenue, Wilmore.
A soup lunch will be served for $10, and the customer gets to keep the bowl. Additional bowls are available without lunch for $5. Empty Bowls is an international project to fight hunger that is personalized by artists and art organizations on a community level.

Christmas Ball at Wesley Village set for Saturday
The Community Center at Wesley Village will host a Christmas Ball from 8:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday at 1125 North Lexington Avenue, Wilmore. Enjoy finger foods, door prizes, dancing and music by the MetroGnomes, a 19-piece big band. A swing dance lesson will be offered at 7:30 p.m. by the University of Kentucky Swing Dance Club.
