Feast of the Epiphany is Jan. 6 at Midway Christian Church
Midway Christian Church will host the 8th annual Feast of the Epiphany at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 6 with a medieval menu prepared by chef Ouita Michel and her staff.
The feast, served at the Midway College Piper Dining Hall, will begin with the traditional parade of the boar's head. The buffet will feature the roast hog stuffed with sausages; roasted onions with balsamic vinegar and honey; honey-roasted chicken; saffron rice pilaf; carrot pudding with currants and dates; sweet-and-sour cabbage and lentils; salad of lettuces, fennel, mint, parsley, flowers and egg; king cake; poached pears; and candied pine nuts. Appetizers include Turkish flatbread, cheese and walnut dip, spiced toasted almonds, and spelt bread and olives. Entertainment will be provided by The Center for Old Music in the New World, a medieval music group that plays authentic replicas of ancient instruments.
Reservations are required and will be taken until the event sells out or through Dec. 29. The cost is $30 for adults, $15 for children ages 11 to 18, free for children ages 10 and younger. To make a reservation, go to Midwaychristian.org/epiphany_2015.htm or call the church office at (859) 846-4102.
