Young farmers honored
The Bluegrass and Northern Kentucky Region of the Kentucky Young Farmers Association held its annual meeting in February at the Jessamine Career and Technology Center in Nicholasville. President Doug Marshall recognized the production contest regional award winners: Wanda Wade, non-alfalfa hay; Mike Meyer, burley tobacco; Kevin Arnold, yellow corn, upland soybeans and upland roundup ready soybeans; Roger Marsh, wheat and double crop soybeans; Randy Wade, beef production; Shelly Meyer, diversified livestock; Kevin Ferrell, diversified farming; and Robert Waits, beef feeder. All winners are from Harrison County, except Robert Waits, who is from Jessamine County.

Civil War 150 display at library through March 30
Civil War 150, a traveling exhibit exploring the most transformative period in U.S. history, will be on display at the Jessamine County Public Library through March 30. The exhibit invites Americans to understand how soldiers, freedmen and families struggled to address the nature of democracy and citizenship and the human toll of war. The library is temporarily located at 193 Computrex Drive in Nicholasville. Hours are 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 11:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. For more info go to Jesspublib.org.
