The Jack Jouett House Historic Site will host its fifth annual Revolutionary Kids Day from noon to 5 p.m. July 18. Admission is free. Visitors will experience life in Revolutionary America with an afternoon of children's activities, crafts, games, displays and demonstrations by costumed re-enactors. Special children's historic house tours, a tea party, a hands-on archaeology exhibit, pony rides and a petting zoo will also be available.
Costumed interpreters portraying Continental soldiers, Virginia militiamen and Kentucky frontiersmen will talk about their clothing and equipment, as well as demonstrate flintlock rifle shooting, fire starting and tomahawk throwing. A Revolutionary War cannon, currently undergoing restoration, will be displayed.
