Fayette County: American Diabetes Association Bluegrass announces winners at Kiss a Pig event

The American Diabetes Association Bluegrass announced its 2015 local award winners during American Diabetes Month. The recipients were honored at the association’s second annual Kiss a Pig event Nov. 14. The award winners include:

▪ Volunteer of the Year: Eric M. Case, Fowler Bell, Lexington, 2015 Kiss A Pig corporate chair.

▪ Family of the Year: The Hale family, led by Jerry Hale, chairman of the ADA Bluegrass board, the Hale’s Step Out Team, Hale’s Angels, has raised more than $25,000 through the years. Lindsey Hale serves as the Kiss a Pig auction chair.

▪ R.J. Corman Corporate Partner of the Year: Bechtel Parsons Blue Grass, Richmond. Bechtel Parsons has been a sponsor of the ADA’s Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes for seven years. Bechtel Parsons also has a walk team, which has raised more than $45,000 in the fight to stop diabetes.

▪ National Stop Diabetes LEARN outreach award: Dennis Karounos, University of Kentucky HealthCare. Karounos currently serves as the ADA board president.
