Lindsey Carroll of Versailles was named one of 10 finalists in the Distinguished Young Women National Finals competition on June 25 in Mobile, Ala., and was awarded a $2,500 cash scholarship. Carroll also earned a $1,000 preliminary competition award in the scholastics category.
Carroll traveled to Mobile along with 50 other state representatives to participate in community activities and prepare for the 59th annual national competition.
Carroll is a graduate of Woodford County High School. She will attend Chapman University this fall and plans to become a professional dancer. She is the daughter of Donna and Timothy Carroll.

The Woodford Educational Endowment Foundation’s annual golf tournament was held at Moss Hill Golf Course on June 27 and raised almost $9,000.
Sixteen teams competed in the group’s annual fundraising event and vied for more than $2,000 in prizes. Participants played 18 holes of golf, and the top 10 players then competed in a 9-hole sudden-death shootout. In addition, there was a two best ball team event and a blind bogey competition.

The 2016 Moss Hill Men's Invitational will be July 16 and 17 at Moss Hill Golf Course, 3495 McCowans Ferry Road, Versailles.
The $100 entry fee includes three rounds of golf, dinner, a Calcutta auction, non-alcoholic beverages, breakfast, a dry-fit Moss Hill logo shirt and prizes.
