The newly reformed Leadership Woodford County program is accepting applications.
The program will provide a forum for current and future leaders to study the community and learn the skills necessary to help promote change, improve quality of life and lead.
The program, which will run September through May, will feature monthly day-long meetings that will highlight different topics. Sessions will include orientation (Sept. 8), education (Oct. 6), industry (Nov. 3), health care (Dec. 1), state government (Jan. 5), local government (Feb. 2), law and justice (March 3), and agriculture and tourism (April 6). The program will conclude on May 4 with a graduation ceremony.
Applications are available at the Woodford County Chamber of Commerce, the Woodford County Extension Office, or may be requested at firstname.lastname@example.org. The cost is $200, which includes all transportation, meals and activities. Applications are due Aug. 9.

Woodford Humane’s Freedom Fest is July 22-23
Ticket are available for the Woodford Humane Society’s 17th annual Freedom Fest, which will take place July 22-23 at Ashford Stud, home of Triple Crown champion American Pharoah.
The two-day event consists of a tasting luncheon July 22 featuring food from more than a dozen local restaurants and caterers, and a catered dinner by Sweet Lilu’s Catering on July 23, plus drinks, live and silent auctions, raffles, guided farm tours, live music and dancing.
