A Montgomery County elementary school teacher was killed Friday in a car crash.
Sheila Huff Baker, 51, had been a science teacher at Mapleton Elementary for 3 1/2 years and had been with the school district for an additional 10 years, according to a news release from Montgomery County Schools.
“She has created so many opportunities and positively impacted so many families and students with her teaching, service, and dedication to our students,” according to the release. “We ask for your thoughts and prayers for Ms. Baker’s family, students and staff at Mapleton Elementary, and the entire Montgomery County School District during this difficult time.”
The crash happened at about 7 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 460 and Ky. 599 in Jeffersonville, southeast of Mount Sterling, said Montgomery County Sheriff Fred Shortridge.
