Paris police responded to a call about 4:40 p.m. Monday that John Stanley, 20, had been shot on the corner of Seventh and Williams Streets.

Stanley was taken to the University of Kentucky Hospital. A patient by the name John Stanley had been discharged from the hospital Tuesday afternoon.

Police did not name the person they are seeking in connection with the shooting.

Early reports classified the shooting as gang-related, but Lt. Jeff Lizer said the department does not consider that to be the case.

"We think it was just an argument between two folks that got heated and got out of hand," Lizer said.
