A Cynthiana teen died Saturday morning after she drove a vehicle with three other youth into a pond.
Authorities said that around 9:45 p.m. Friday, Brittany Cordray was driving a 2000 Ford Taurus along Colville Road in Bourbon County when she ran off the road at a curve. The vehicle came to rest on its top in the pond.
The three passengers were able to escape, and two pulled Brittany, 17, from the pond after about 15 minutes of being submerged, according to the Fayette County coroner. Cordray was taken to University of Kentucky Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 2:03 a.m. The three passengers were also taken to area hospitals, where they were treated and released.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash. Authorities did not detail in a news release if Brittany was wearing a seat belt.
Arrangements for Brittany are being handled by Ware Funeral Home in Cynthiana.
