Man fails to appear in court after crash that killed nurse

A Lexington man who was involved in a head-on collision that killed a Clark County nurse failed to appear for his court date Monday.

Christobel Ramirez-Cordoba was ticketed for not having a driver's license after his sport utility vehicle crossed the center line on Briar Hill Road and hit Vicki Hutchison's car on April 5, killing her.

Jennifer Miller, spokeswoman for the Fayette County sheriff's office, said a bench warrant had been issued for Ramirez-Cordoba's arrest.

Ramirez-Cordoba had previous arrests in Fayette County for driving without a license, according to court records.

Hutchison was on her way to work as a nurse at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Police said alcohol and drugs were not suspected in the crash, and no other charges were filed.
