A Winchester woman has won a $1 million Powerball jackpot from the Jan. 12 drawing, the Kentucky Lottery Corp. confirmed Friday.
Betty Hatler bought a ticket at South Main Grocery that matched all five numbers but not the Powerball number.
Hatler came forward Friday to claim the prize at the lottery headquarters in Louisville, spokesman Chip Polston said. Hatler did not wish to talk to the media, Polson said.
The second prize would normally pay $200,000, but because Hatler chose the Power Play multiplier option, the ticket paid $1 million before taxes. After taxes, Hatler will receive $690,000, Polston said.

Hatler joins several other recent lottery winners in Kentucky:
■ A $1 million Mega Millions winning ticket from the Jan. 4 drawing was claimed by Pamela Ivey of Georgetown.
■ Joshua Blevins, the assistant principal at Casey County High, won $430,000 in the Kentucky Lottery Three-Line Lotto.
