A Blue Grass Airport runway was closed for nearly an hour Tuesday afternoon while emergency crews cleaned up a fuel leak.
A private plane, which was diverted to Blue Grass Airport because of the leak about 1:40 p.m., landed safely and no injuries were reported, according to the Lexington Fire Department. The plane was heading to Springfield, Ohio. LEX18 reported the main runway was affected.
The runway reopened just after 2:30 p.m., airport spokeswoman Tiffany Hart said. One incoming flight from Charlotte and two from Detroit were delayed because of the incident, and those delays were expected to affect some future departure times.
