The death of a 36-year-old Pulaski County man is still under investigation after a Sunday autopsy showed Chris Bennett suffered from blunt force trauma but also had water in his lungs. That means Bennett was likely alive when he went into the water, the Pulaski County coroner said Sunday.

Two boys found Bennett’s body just off KY 1248 on Saturday. The boys told an adult who called 911. The body was found in Fishing Creek, said Clyde Strunk, the Pulaski County coroner.

Strunk said Bennett’s death is still under investigation as the office waits for toxicology results. Bennett had drugs in his system at the time of his death, Strunk said.

“Foul play is unlikely but it has not been ruled out,” Strunk said.
