A car hit a Shell station on Newtown Pike in Lexington on Sept. 22, 2015.

Part of a Lexington gas station was boarded up Tuesday night after a woman accidentally drove her car through the window.

Fire Maj. Jason Wells said firefighters were called at 8:21 p.m. to the Shell Gas Station at 1070 Newtown Pike after a woman distracted by her child drove her late-model Ford into the gas station window.

The woman's foot slipped and pressed on the gas instead of the brake, Wells said.

The woman will not be charged, because it was an accident, he said.

Wells said the gas station didn't suffer structural damage, but the window and the frame were destroyed.

The window was scheduled to be boarded up Tuesday night. No one was injured.
