Man injured in shooting at shopping center

A man had non-life threatening injuries after being shot Thursday in a fight at a Lexington shopping center.

Lt. Tommy Perkins said officers were called about 6:00 p.m. to the shopping center at 580 Eureka Springs Road, after gunshots were heard. By the time police arrived, people had already left the scene but there was evidence of a shooting, he said.

Moments later, police received a second call from a local hospital after a man suffering from a gunshot wound showed up.

The man's name and age were not immediately given.

Perkins said gunshots erupted after a verbal disagreement between a woman and a man. A second fight quickly began between two groups of people. One group started shooting at the other group, he said.

The shooting was still under investigation, but police think a light blue, 4-door newer model sedan was involved.

Anyone with information should call Lexington police at (859) 258-3600.
