Transy jack-o'-lanterns light up four nights

Hundreds of jack-o'-lanterns will light the night at Transylvania University's Pumpkin Mania on the steps of Old Morrison, on Third Street across from Gratz Park. The first night includes activities and treats starting at 6 p.m.; the pumpkins will be lit at 7 nightly through Halloween. (Transy.edu)

Time for Breeders' Cup

Finally, the two-day world championships of horse racing start at Keeneland, 4201 Versailles Road, Lexington. Tickets for the Keene Barn & Entertainment Center, which include general admission access to the track and a lunch buffet, are $125 Friday, $200 Saturday. Ghost, ghouls, horse racing and football

Fayette County's traditional outdoor trick-or-treating is 6 to 8 p.m. It's all part of a very busy day, with the Breeders' Cup wrapping up and UK taking on Tennessee at Commonwealth Stadium. If it's all too much, there is at least one alternative: There will be trick-or-treating from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday inside Fayette Mall.
