Lexington police were still searching Thursday for one of two men accused of entering an apartment near Shillito Park Wednesday night and attempting to rob a male resident.
The Lexington man who lives at the apartment complex at 3500 Beaver Place, near Nicholasville Road and Man o' War Boulevard, told police he shot one of the intruders, who later died at the University of Kentucky Hospital, after the men entered his apartment about 10:45 p.m.

The resident, whose name was not released, was armed with a handgun. He was also shot during a fight with the two men.
The alleged intruder was identified by the Fayette County coroner's office as Anthony Bell, 27. He died of a gunshot wound to the chest, the office said.
Witnesses told police they saw the other alleged intruder running away toward Shillito Park. The man was described as about 6 feet 3 inches tall and wearing a dark gray, hooded jacket.
Officer Ann Gutierrez, a Lexington police spokeswoman, said there were no signs of forced entry at the apartment. The resident opened the door after the two men knocked.
No charges have been filed.
