Old Man Winter officially arrived at 7:04 a.m. Sunday and he didn't waste any time making his presence known in Central Kentucky.
About 9 p.m., the temperature at Blue Grass Airport was 11 degrees and was expected to dip to 3 degrees overnight, according to the National Weather Service.

Sunday's high temperature, 28 degrees, occurred about the same time as the winter solstice.
On Monday, the high is expected to be in the lower 20s, and Monday night will have a near steady temperature about 17 degrees, the weather service said. Temperatures are expected to rise Tuesday, but rain and freezing rain are forecast.
By Thursday, Christmas Day, the weather is expected to be partly sunny with highs in the mid-40s.
