Teen driver remains in critical condition after crash

The 16-year-old driver in a single-car crash in which a passenger died last week remained in critical condition Monday night at University of Kentucky Hospital.

Kimberly Jager, a junior at Lexington's Henry Clay High School, was driving a Kia Rio when she lost control and crashed into a tree about 2:30 a.m. Nov. 24 on North Cleveland Road in Lexington.

William Jacobs, 18, of Paris, died in the crash. Another passenger, Zachary Owens, 18, was discharged from the hospital the day of the crash.

Jacobs and Owens both graduated from Eastside Technical Center; Jager is also a student in the half-day program, which prepares students for an occupation or additional education.

All three teens were thrown from the car. Police do not suspect that drugs or alcohol were involved.
