The Lexington man arrested in the shooting death of an acquaintance appeared in court Tuesday for an arraignment.
Dedric J. Brown, 30, who is charged with murder, appeared via video from the Fayette County jail, where he is being held on a $500,000 full cash bond. Fayette District Judge Megan Lake Thornton scheduled a preliminary hearing for Jan. 6.
Police said Brown was involved in a fight with Brannon Winn, 24, of Lexington, in the area of Sixth and Toner streets about midnight Monday. Police said Brown shot Winn.
Brown and witnesses took Winn to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a little after 1 a.m., police said.
Winn died of a shot to the chest, according to the Fayette County coroner's office.
