Fifth District councilwoman Cheryl Feigel, 62, has filed to run for a second term on the Urban County Council.
As the city faces a budget shortfall, Feigel said, it was important for council to show fiscal restraint and prioritize basic service. Long-range planning will be "critical" in the next three years as the city looks forward to economic recovery, she said in a prepared statement.
Feigel initiated an ordinance requiring that utilities be put underground in all new residential areas. She also co-sponsored an ordinance with council members Julian Beard and George Myers requiring board and commission members to take an oath of office.
She is chairwoman of the Corridors Committee and heads a task force looking for new ways to pay for the park system's master plan.
Feigel has undergraduate and master's degrees in human environmental science from the University of Kentucky.
