Officials investigate small fire at Lexington police headquarters

Lexington's arson investigator was looking into a small fire that started atop police headquarters on Main Street late Tuesday afternoon.

Some wood was found burning on the roof, and an officer put the fire out with the extinguisher in the trunk of his cruiser, said Lt. David Marcum of the police department.

"That's a pretty strange place for some wood to spontaneously combust," he said.

Police headquarters were evacuated for a short period of time while the fire was put out.
