Woman who crashed into Lexington Kohl's is released from hospital

The woman who crashed into a Hamburg Kohl's store Wednesday has been released from the hospital, according to a statement from her family issued through University of Kentucky public relations.

Whitney Lochmueller was cited on charges of driving under the influence, wanton endangerment and criminal mischief in the crash, according to Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts. Alcohol was not a suspected factor.

"According to toxicology testing currently performed at UK there has been no evidence of alcohol or drugs of abuse," the release said.

A spokesperson from University of Kentucky did not immediately return e-mails asking for clarification of the phrase "drugs of abuse." Lochmueller's family declined comment.

The release thanked family and friends for their support.

Roberts said police were continuing to investigate, and that the department's toxicology reports were pending.

Lochmueller is the daughter of former University of Kentucky basketball player Steve Lochmueller.
