Thanksgiving Day service closings and changes, free meals and forecast

What's open and closed

Here's a list of Lexington services that might be affected by Thursday's Thanksgiving holiday:

Government: All city offices closed Thursday and Friday.

Courts: Federal, circuit and district courts closed Thursday and Friday.

U.S. Postal Service: No mail delivery Thursday, with the exception of Express Mail. All post offices are closed Thursday.

Libraries: Closing early, at 5 p.m., Wednesday and closed Thursday. Regular hours Friday.

Health department: Closed Thursday and Friday.

LexTran: No regular service Thursday.

Garbage collection:

■ Lexington city: No pick-up Thursday. For customers who usually have service on Thursday, today is the make-up day. Landfill and recycling center closed Thursday. First-ever "Gobble Grease Toss," in which residents may recycle used cooking oil, will be 8 a.m. to noon Friday and Saturday at 360 Thompson Road.

■ Rumpke: Collection as usual Thursday.

■ M&M Sanitation: Residents with Thursday pick-up will get service on Friday; regular Friday pick-up moved to Saturday.
