A man was treated and released from a Lexington hospital after his motorized wheelchair was struck by a train at a Laurel County railroad crossing, a sheriff's department news release said.
Donald Ray Karr, 58, of Lily suffered multiple injuries and broken bones when a southbound CSX train struck his wheelchair at the Tackett Road crossing off Ky. 552 near Lily, about seven miles south of London, the news release said.
The collision happened at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, when Karr, apparently intoxicated, tried to cross the track, the news release said.
Karr was flown by helicopter to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital. A hospital spokesperson said Wednesday he had been discharged.
