An 80-year-old Lexington woman suffered a "medical emergency" after a minor accident Tuesday afternoon and later died, Lexington police said.
Grace R. Vaughn was a passenger in a 2007 Kia Optima that turned left onto Man o' War Boulevard from Fort Harrods Drive and collided with a Toyota pickup, police Sgt. S.M. May said.
Vaughn and the two drivers all reported minor injuries, May said. But Vaughn then suffered an undisclosed "medical emergency" on the way to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, where she later died.
The driver of the Kia, Julia Ward, also of Lexington, remained hospitalized Wednesday morning.

The driver of the Toyota went to the hospital on his own later, and was treated and released, May said.
May said he thought the women had been sitting a while on Fort Harrods Drive and pulled out when heavy traffic slowed.
But the driver of the pickup couldn't see the Kia around a dump truck in the outside lane and wasn't able to stop, and the pickup collided with the Kia in the middle of the intersection, May said.
Because Vaughn died within 30 days of the collision, police are required to classify the accident as a fatality.
