A Lexington man was injured early Sunday when he was thrown from a motorcycle and run over by a car.
A witness told police Andrew W. Mahoney was speeding on the outer loop of New Circle Road, near Tates Creek Road, when his Yamaha R6 rear ended a Ford Mustang.
"Mahoney was launched off his bike and came to rest in the road," Lexington police said in a news release.
A second car then ran over Mahoney's legs. That car did not stop; police had not found it Sunday afternoon, police said.
Mahoney, who was seriously injured, was not wearing a helmet, the release said. Two occupants of the Mustang, which was being driven by Jeremy L. Bryant, of Cincinnati, had minor injuries.
Police suspect Mahoney was impaired by drugs or alcohol when the wreck occurred about 2:30 a.m., the release said.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or who has information about the car that fled is asked to call Lexington police at (859) 258-3600.
