Lexington's busy Helix Garage at 150 East Main Street — which was renamed for its spiraling exit ramp — will be closed Friday night through early Monday to put a protective coating on the ramp, according to a city news release.

The garage reopened in May after a $3.1 million restoration project that required closing it for about six months.

The garage will close at 6 p.m. Friday and will reopen at 5 a.m. Monday, according to the news release.

The next phase of the overhaul includes improvements to the exterior of the garage.

While the Helix garage is closed, free parking is available in the city’s Phoenix Lot on Water Street.
