Urban County Council voted Thursday to express its opposition to the Kentucky Public Service Commission for a rate increase requested by Kentucky-American Water Co.
The company has asked the commission to increase its revenue by $12.3 million a year, or 14.6 percent. For a typical customer, this would amount paying $5.76 extra each month, or a 17.6 percent increase.
At a recent public hearing, Mayor Jim Gray said Kentucky-American had made poor business decisions in recent years, and now wanted ratepayers to foot the bill.
