The weekend rain in Lexington set records Saturday and Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service, the 1.8 inches of rain that fell Saturday surpassed the previous record for Oct. 5 of 1.46 inches in 1944. Sunday's rainfall of 1.1 inches broke the record for Oct. 6 set in 1910, when 1.07 inches fell.
Sunday's rain forced the postponement of the Lexington Fire Prevention Parade and Festival. Organizers said they hoped to announce a new date soon.
Colder weather is moving into the region behind the rain. Highs will be in the 60s Monday and Tuesday, with lows dropping into the 40s, according to the weather service said.
