The Salvation Army kettle campaign is running short this year in Lexington, and officials are blaming bad weather and a late Thanksgiving.

So far, the Lexington campaign has raised $188,345, down $23,978 compared with 2012.

People can contribute to the kettles in front of stores until Dec. 24, or they can donate to the online kettle at Salvationarmylex.org until Dec. 31.

Online kettle contributions will be matched by as much as $50,000 by an anonymous donor, according to a news release from the Salvation Army.
