Fayette County Public Schools were canceled Wednesday, according to the school district's website, FCPS.net.
All Wednesday afternoon and evening activities, including night school, were canceled.
"We had a crew go out and drive the streets and they are still in very bad condition, Mary Wright, chief operating officer for Fayette County Public Schools said Tuesday.
"Temperatures are supposed to get really, really cold tonight and we don't anticipate any improvement and we wanted to give people plenty of notice."

Officials canceled Wednesday classes Tuesday afternoon. When classes were canceled Tuesday morning, it was the fourth day missed because of winter weather in this school year.
Earlier this month, school officials said May 30 would be the last day of school if no other days were cancelled this year. Wednesday's cancellation is likely to extend classes into the first week of June.
