The Lexington Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Firefighters collects toys for needy children at Christmastime, but this year, what the organization needs most is a much bigger gift.

The firefighters are looking for someone to donate the use of a large building to house this year's Firefighter Toy Program. The program needs a building with about 10,000 square feet and a parking lot from Nov. 1 to Dec. 31.

Anyone who has a building to loan or knows of one that might fit the need may call Battalion Chief Joe Best at (859) 312-0528.

This is the 83rd year the organization has sponsored the toy drive for children in Fayette County. The program typically provides toys for more than 3,000 children who otherwise might not receive them. The toy program will start to accept toy donations Monday. It will take applications Nov. 11 to 26. The toy giveaway will be Dec. 13.
