Man's arm is torn off in on-the-job accident near downtown Lexington

A man's arm was torn off at the elbow in an accident Wednesday afternoon in Lexington.

A Stanley Pipeline crew was working on Hagerman Court near downtown about 4:30 p.m. when one of the workers checked on a piece of equipment that had stopped working; the machine kicked back as the man grabbed it, WKYT reported.

Coworkers stopped the bleeding before emergency crews arrived. The man was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.
