Drivers might want to take side roads instead of traveling on New Circle Road in the area of Old Frankfort Pike over the next several weeks.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said blasting will begin Wednesday and will continue for several weeks so new bridge piers can be placed at Old Frankfort Pike and New Circle Road.
The blasting will affect the inner and outer loops of New Circle and will require traffic to be stopped for about 20 minutes at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day.
Police will help with traffic control during these times.

The blasting is part of a two-year project to widen New Circle Road to six lanes between Versailles and Leestown roads. The speed limit has been reduced to 45 mph in the construction area.
