A pedestrian suffered what might be life-threatening injuries Saturday night when he was hit by a car that then drove from the scene, Lexington police said.
The driver of the car, a red Pontiac Sunfire, later called police and admitted to striking the pedestrian, police Lt. Jesse Harris said.
The victim, who appeared to be in his early 20s, was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, Harris said.
The collision happened at about 7:45 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Liberty and Wilderness roads.
