Lexington's collection of yard waste will be suspended between Feb. 9 and March 20.
The collection of waste from Lennys, as well as bags and bundles of yard waste, is being put on hiatus "because of significantly reduced demand" during winter months, according to a news release from the Division of Waste Management.
Yard waste collection will resume March 23. Meanwhile, people with yard waste that needs to be picked up can call LexCall at 311 to make a request.
People who show proof of Lexington residency can also drop off one pickup truckload of yard waste twice a month for free at the Haley Pike Waste Management Facility at 4216 Hedger Lane.
"Most households don't have yard waste this time of year," Waste Management Director Tracey Thurman said in the release. "Our new 6-week winter schedule will allow our crews to be more efficient on waste and recycling routes and will save taxpayer dollars."
Trash and recycling collection will continue on the normal schedule.
