A black pickup truck crashed into the Ruth Hunt Candies store at Walton and Cramer avenues in Lexington at about 6 p.m. Thursday.
Lexington Fire Department Maj. Jeff Johnson said the truck was heading toward Winchester Road on Walton Avenue while a second vehicle, a gray SUV, was on Cramer Avenue heading toward the Ruth Hunt Candies store. The vehicles crashed, and the driver of the truck swerved, causing the truck to careen into the front of the store. The SUV was hit on the driver’s side.
Johnson said drivers of both vehicles declined to go to the hospital.
The store’s manager, Tony Moore, was inside the store when it happened. He said the owner sustained scratches on his arm, but there were no other injuries inside the store.
Moore said the shop had closed, and most of the merchandise had been moved from the front of the store.
A contractor was on the way to assess the damage.
Moore said he hopes the store can reopen within the week.
